Nayanthara: Back to basics

After flooring the audiences with her performance in her last Mollywood venture Bodyguard, Nayanthara is all set to woo them again in Electra, directed by Shyam Prasad.

And according to sources, the film is all set to go on the floors from tomorrow near the backwaters of Alleppy.
We hear that the Indian girl Manisha Koirala plays Nayan’s mother and Prakash Raj, her father. Nayan, who’s currently shooting for a film with Upendra in Kannada, will join the Electra team soon.

The actress, in an earlier interview, had said, “It’s an interesting script and I’m looking forward to start shooting. I’ve a powerful role in the film and I’m just too excited. If all goes well, I will also dub for myself in this movie.”
It’s no news that this PYT started her career with a Malayalam flick, Manassinakkare with Jayaram.

After a couple of films, she debuted in Kollywood with Ayya, opposite Sarath Kumar. Since then, there’s been no looking back for her. But now, Nayanthara has just one film in Kollywood, Boss Engira Baskaran with Arya, and another in Telugu and Kannada. We only pray that this pretty actress’ kitty fills up with a lot of films soon.

Nayanthara’s tutoring Asin!

Nayanthara and Asin may have shared space in Ghajini but ask Nayan if she would give any tips to Asin on playing the lead in Kaavalkaran.

Which is a remake of her Malayalam hit Bodyguard, and the actress replies, “No actress would ask for tips from another. And really, Asin is no newbie. She has her own style of doing things and her market in Kollywood is strong. She very well knows how to handle her roles with care and expertise.” Here’s one actress who speaks her mind.

Nayanthara’s Birthday!

Nayanthara is celebrating her birthday with her family today in Dubai, where her brother is settled. Nayan, who is on a break, wanted to spend her birthday with her little niece whom she dotes on. The lass says that her brother is planning to host a small birthday party for her at the newly opened super luxury resort — Atlantis Hotel on the Palm Jumeirah, a man-made island known as the eighth wonder of the world! During the last five years, she has celebrated her birthday on the sets of her films. Now, she feels that it is a welcome break that will rejuvenate her and pep up her spirits.Ask her if she’s moving away from glam roles, and she replies, “Why should I? My fans have accepted me in such roles. And it’s not easy to be convincing as a glam girl in films as a lot of hard work goes into it.”The actress, who has watched Fashion and Dostana recently, says that she loved Priyanka Chopra in them. Adds Nayan, “Both the films were hip, trendy and youth-oriented. I will be back and am waiting to catch up with Vaaranam Aayiram.” On her birthday gift, she says with a smile, “My family always loves to surprise me at the last minute.”

Nayanthara takes a break

Nayanthara is enjoying an unexpected break with her family. This happened as her next film to be directed by Lingusamy is postponed by a month, as its hero Karthi is still trying to complete Selvaraghavan’s never-ending shoot of Aayirathil Oruvan. Nayan has completed work on Villu with some patch work left. The film is said to have shaped out well as an action entertainer and will be a Pongal 2009 release. Her special appearance in a rocking song in Twenty: 20 the Malayalam multistarrer is being appreciated as the film is turning out to be the biggest blockbuster of the year.Nayan has also found time to catch up with her cousins, visit a few famous temples like Chettikulangara and Mannarasala to do offerings. She also watch some movies during this break and says that she loved Fashion and Kangana Ranaut’s terrific attitude as a show stopper in the film. When asked about a rank newcomer like the little known Sanaa Khan, Simbu’s Silambattam heroine taking potshots at her in an interview to an English daily, Nayan refused to comment about it.
