The film producers council are contemplating a ban on Nayanthara, reports our sources close to Kollywood. The buzz is that director Lingusamy and his production house Tirupathi Brothers have complained that Nayan refused to star in their forthcoming venture – Payya - after receiving an advance of Rs. 25 lakhs. But sources close to Nayan point out that the venture failed to take off on the stipulated time mentioned in the contract and Nayan’s call sheet was wasted. The advance amount, as per their claims, is adjusted towards the loss incurred by the actress. The buzz in Kollywood is that the Producers’ Council may take stern on the actress which could pave way for her ban in the Telugu and Malayalam film industries too.

Nayanthara has been in the news a lot lately. More recently for having dropped out of Payya, because the producer asked her to take less than the 1 crore discussed earlier with her. In an interview, Nanyan said the industry seems to have thought the last few films she has been in have not done well, and so they thought she would take less. But she made it very clear that what is important to her is the pride she takes in her work, and she won’t undersell herself.However, in a surprise move, she has agreed to take less for the Malayalam film, Bodyguard, starring Dileep Kumar and directed by Sidiqque. The reason? Because she liked the script a lot. Nayan felt it was worth taking a cut in her salary to support a good movie such as Bodyguard.
